Platform Intelligence Across Six Gulfstream Large-Cabin Types
Freestream Aircraft provides independent advisory services across the Gulfstream large-cabin range, from pre-purchase evaluations and technical due diligence through acquisitions, disposals, and ongoing asset management. The six platforms presented here span three generations of Gulfstream large-cabin design, from the BR710-powered G550 through the current Pearl 700-powered G700 and G800.
Performance, cabin, and operating cost figures are drawn from standardised data sources against consistent utilisation assumptions. Acquisition cost is excluded by design. G550 operating cost is noted as pending, given its pre-owned market status. G800 figures are preliminary, reflecting early fleet hours.
The G550 is one of the most prolific large-cabin business jets produced, with 622 aircraft delivered between 2002 and 2020. Powered by twin Rolls-Royce BR 710 engines and equipped with the PlaneView flight deck, it offers 6,820 nm range at long-range cruise and a maximum operating Mach of 0.885. Its broad operator base, mature maintenance ecosystem, and liquid pre-owned market make it a well-understood platform for buyers seeking proven intercontinental capability at an accessible entry point.

The G500 entered service in 2018 as the entry point to Gulfstream's current large-cabin generation, introducing the Symmetry Flight Deck and active control sidestick to the range. Powered by twin Pratt & Whitney Canada PW814GA engines, it delivers 5,235 nm at long-range cruise with a maximum speed of 516 kts. The cabin seats up to 13 passengers with a pressure differential maintaining 4,850 ft cabin altitude at FL510, the lowest in its segment.

The G600 was certified in 2019 as the larger sibling to the G500, sharing the Symmetry Flight Deck and PW815GA powerplant architecture on a stretched fuselage. Range is 6,530 nm at long-range cruise, covering transatlantic and transpacific sectors. Cabin volume increases to 1,884 cu ft over 45 ft of usable length; cabin altitude remains 4,850 ft at FL510. The type has attracted strong operator interest as a G650ER successor at reduced operating cost.

The G650ER was certified in 2014 as the extended-range variant of the G650, adding fuel capacity to reach 6,985 nm at long-range cruise. Powered by twin Rolls-Royce BR725 engines and equipped with the PlaneView II flight deck, it held the production large-cabin range record until the G800 entered service. Production concluded in 2025 after approximately 444 aircraft; the type now trades primarily in the pre-owned market with a strong and liquid operator base.

The G700 entered service in 2023 as the post-G650 generation flagship, with twin Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines and the Symmetry Flight Deck on Honeywell Primus Epic 2.0. At 56.9 ft, the cabin is the longest in the Gulfstream range; volume is 2,603 cu ft with 4,850 ft cabin altitude at FL510. Range is 7,850 nm at long-range cruise. Through May 2026, 43 aircraft have been delivered, all in service.

The G800 received FAA type certification in April 2025 as the long-range counterpart to the G700, on a shorter fuselage with identical Pearl 700 engines and Symmetry Flight Deck. Long-range cruise range is 8,300 nm, the greatest in the current Gulfstream production range. Cabin length is 46.9 ft at 2,138 cu ft; cabin altitude matches the G700 at 4,850 ft at FL510. Operating cost figures are preliminary, reflecting early fleet hours.

Variable cost per flight hour and annual fixed cost at 250 hrs/year utilisation. G550 cost pending (pre-owned market only). G800 figures preliminary. Acquisition cost excluded.
The G550 entered production in 2002 and ceased in 2020. All transactions now occur in the pre-owned market. Standardised operating cost data for the type is no longer maintained by the primary data source used for this analysis. Cost fields for the G550 are therefore marked as pending. Operators should request platform-specific estimates from their maintenance programme and insurance providers.
The G800 received FAA type certification in April 2025 and entered service with limited fleet hours at the time of this analysis. Operating cost figures ($7,200/hr variable; $1,649,248 annual fixed) are sourced from preliminary data and have not yet been independently verified against accumulated fleet experience. These figures may be revised as the fleet matures.
A dedicated G700 or G800 image was not available at the time of publication. The G650 reference image is used throughout this overview. The G700 and G800 share Gulfstream's contemporary large-cabin fuselage design; the G700 is distinguished by a longer fuselage than the G650ER, and the G800 is dimensionally similar to the G650ER in external profile.
All operating cost figures are calculated at 250 flight hours per year, 108,500 nm per year, $5.00/gallon fuel, and $105/hour labour. These are consistent assumptions applied uniformly across all platforms on this page. Actual costs will vary with utilisation, base location, crew structure, and maintenance programme.
