Bombardier delivers 200th Challenger 3500 to Piero Ferrari

Bombardier has delivered its 200th Challenger 3500 to Piero Ferrari.

The Vice Chairman of Ferrari took the milestone airframe on 27 July 2026. Ferrari is the son of company founder Enzo Ferrari and holds an approximate 10 per cent stake in the marque. Bombardier said the aircraft would support his travel to Formula One races and other business engagements.

The 200th delivery arrives less than four years after the Challenger 3500 entered service in 2022. The 100th delivery was announced in late October 2024, a cadence of roughly 100 airframes over the last 21 months. Bombardier says the super-midsize twin has out-delivered every other business jet in the medium and heavy categories since its first full year of deliveries in 2023.

Recent commitments from fleet operators BOND, NetJets and VistaJet sit behind that production pace. VistaJet's earlier $1.18 billion firm order for 40 airframes, with options that could carry total value to $4 billion, underpins the pipeline. The Nuage seat originally developed for the Global 7500 and the industry's first voice-controlled cabin remain standard equipment. The Challenger 3500 also carries a Type II Environmental Product Declaration under ISO 14021.

David Murray, executive vice president of manufacturing, IT and Bombardier operational excellence system, called the milestone 'a defining milestone for Bombardier'. Bombardier operates a customer fleet of more than 5,200 aircraft, supported through 10 service facilities across six countries. For Challenger 3500 owners, a 200-airframe base widens the residual pool and thickens the maintenance-data feed to that support network.

Daher breaks ground on Florida TBM and Kodiak assembly line

Daher has broken ground on a final-assembly line in Stuart, Florida. The plant will assemble Daher TBM 960 and 980 airframes shipped from Tarbes in France, then add Kodiak 100 and 900 output currently sole-sourced from Sandpoint, Idaho. Chief executive Nicolas Chabbert confirmed the announcement at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh. Output is expected to begin in 2027 at a target of 10 to 20 units per year. Daher delivered 30 TBM 980s in the first half of 2026, a record pace for the 35-year-old programme. TBM buyers with a North American operating footprint gain a domestic supply source.

Argus reports strongest first-half business aviation activity in four years

Business aviation flight activity rose 3.5 per cent globally in the first half. Every month of first half 2026 finished above the same month a year earlier, according to Argus International TRAQPak data reported by Aviation International News. Fractional operations drove the North American gain, running 10.4 per cent above June 2025. Turboprops led by aircraft category at 4.6 per cent year on year, with light jets at 3.9 per cent and midsize jets at 1.1 per cent. Large jets were the only segment down, at 3.3 per cent. Argus forecasts a 4.3 per cent North American gain and a 0.7 per cent European gain in July 2026.
