FAA proposes engine life-limit revision on Gulfstream G650
The FAA has proposed new engine life limits on the Gulfstream G650. The notice of proposed rulemaking was published in the Federal Register on 15 July 2026. It applies to Rolls-Royce Deutschland BR700-725A1-12 engines, the sole powerplant on the Gulfstream G650 and G650ER.
The proposed rule would require operators to revise the airworthiness limitations section of their approved engine maintenance programme. The revision incorporates new or more restrictive thresholds and intervals for life-limited parts, drawn from Rolls-Royce Time Limits Manual T-725-7BR at Revision 27, dated 15 April 2024. The change requires a maintenance-programme revision only. No hardware modification is called for.
The agency has adopted EASA AD 2024-0136, issued on 11 July 2024, as the mandatory continuing airworthiness information. Where EASA gave operators 12 months to revise the approved aircraft maintenance programme, the FAA would give US operators 30 days from its own effective date.
758 US-registered engines are in scope, corresponding to roughly 379 G650 and G650ER airframes. The FAA estimates a labour cost of $85 per engine, or $64,430 across the affected fleet. The agency stated the unsafe condition, if not addressed, could result in failure of one or more engines, loss of thrust control and loss of the aircraft.
The comment window closes on 31 August 2026. The docket is FAA-2026-7219. The Gulfstream G650 entered service in 2012 and the extended-range G650ER in 2014; the type remains one of the largest ultra-long-range fleets in service. Compliance falls to owners and operators through their maintenance provider updating scheduled task cards.

Embraer launches Phenom 300EV with Garmin Emergency Autoland
Embraer launched the Phenom 300EV on 14 July, its third light-jet refresh this year. The variant becomes the largest business jet fitted with Garmin's Emergency Autoland, which can land the aircraft without pilot input if the crew is incapacitated. A new Embraer multipurpose electronic controller integrates autobrake and rudder-by-wire, both first-in-class for the segment. Range extends to 2,055 nm and payload to 3,066 lb. The aircraft retains the Garmin G3000 Prodigy Touch flight deck with added SurfaceWatch and synthetic vision guidance. List price is $13.995 million in 2026 dollars. Embraer expects FAA, EASA and ANAC certification by year-end, with first deliveries in late 2028.

FAA recommends Collins SBAS receiver upgrade for European operations
The FAA has recommended operators upgrade certain Collins Aerospace SBAS receivers. A Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin issued on 10 July 2026 covers the Collins GPS-4000S, GLU-2100, GLUS-2100 and GLUS-2100A units. The receivers do not correctly process the Message Type 6 integrity alert after a November 2023 update to Europe's EGNOS ground system exposed non-compliance with the RTCA DO-229 standard. The FAA said this may affect the availability of Localizer Performance with Vertical guidance and other SBAS-based approaches, most prevalently within EGNOS coverage. The agency stopped short of an airworthiness directive. EASA already mandated replacement of the affected receivers on European-registered aircraft in 2024.
