FAA mandates G280 wiring retrofit, effective 12 June
The FAA has issued a final airworthiness directive for the Gulfstream G280. The rule becomes effective on 12 June 2026. It requires a retrofit of the empennage flight-controls electrical harness on affected aircraft.
The directive follows reports of water accumulation in electrical connectors located in the aft fuselage, just below the empennage. The water has produced crew-alerting system messages tied to empennage flight controls. The FAA stated that the condition, combined with other failures, could result in loss of controllability of the aircraft.
The mandated action is a retrofit of the empennage electrical harness. Operators of affected aircraft will need to schedule the work with Gulfstream service centres. The final rule was published in the Federal Register on 8 May 2026, following a notice of proposed rulemaking in January.
For G280 owners, the AD sets a hard compliance window. Aircraft already showing the relevant CAS messages are likely candidates. The published summary does not give per-aircraft cost or downtime estimates; the AD itself lists the specific serial numbers in scope and the inspection procedures.
Gulfstream's G280 entered service in 2012. The directive applies to certain serial numbers within that production run, not the entire fleet. Owners and operators should confirm whether their aircraft is in scope before the 12 June effective date.

G700/G800 fuel-icing testing window closes on 30 June
Gulfstream's G700 and G800 must complete fuel-icing certification testing by 30 June. A three-year FAA exemption granted in January 2024 expires on 31 December 2026. Service instructions for in-service retrofits are due by 30 September; full compliance follows in December. Operators of delivered G700s and G800s should track the testing programme. Once Gulfstream's compliance method is FAA-approved, retrofit guidance for the in-service fleet will follow. Related Gulfstream variants on the same Rolls-Royce BR700 engine have logged over 750,000 flight hours without fuel-icing engine issues.

Bombardier Smart Router available for Challenger and Global retrofit
Bombardier's Smart Router can now be retrofitted to existing Challenger and Global aircraft. The unit adds Wi-Fi 6 and 5G cellular capability, enterprise-grade encryption, and remote troubleshooting. It is already baseline on the Challenger 650, Global 5500, and Global 6500. By the end of 2026, all in-production Challenger and Global models will ship with it as standard. Operators with older platforms can schedule installation at Bombardier Service Centres now. The router was developed with Collins Aerospace. Retrofit pricing has not been disclosed.

NetJets advances dedicated owner terminal at Augusta Regional
NetJets is building a dedicated owner terminal at Augusta Regional Airport in Georgia. Foundation walls are in place. The site will offer around 432,000 square feet of aircraft parking, sized for peak demand around the annual Masters Tournament. The development reflects continuing investment by fractional operators in dedicated ground infrastructure at airports with concentrated, recurring high-net-worth traffic. Completion timing has not been disclosed.
